Red Snapper Season in Destin, Florida

Red Snapper anglers should be smiling! The Red Snapper season has been officially announced by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council. According to the Council:  “Federally permitted for hire season will be open for 51 days in 2018. The season will open at 12:01AM local time on June 1 and remain open until 12:01AM local time on July 22, 2018” What you need to know: Private Anglers (that’s you) need a permit or license for Florida when fishing for red snapper. You may fish anywhere in federal waters Private Anglers mush abide by all other requirements for landing in state. Destin Cobia Tournament

The Destin Cobia Tournament presented by HarborWalk Marina is a month long event that attracts hundreds of anglers from Northwest Florida. With a nickname like, “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village,” great fishing tournaments and Destin naturally go hand in hand. Known as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”, Destin is the home to some of the best saltwater fishing in the United States. The 100 Fathom  (600′ depth) curve of the Gulf of Mexico draws closer to Destin than any other spot in Florida. This, along  with  Destin’s close  proximity  to  the East  Pass  and  the Gulf  of Mexico, allows quick access to the Gulf of Mexico’s  fishing bounty.
